What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

I love how some of you ALSO had to dust those knick-knacks! I can hardly wait for this morning to do my job! 

OH MY GOSH --- The Saskatoon Quilters Guild Show. What can I say—it was a fantastic show, and I am so glad I decided to come. It was the BEST (by far) of any guild show that I have ever been to, and I've been to a fair number. Why? Well, I'll tell you shortly.

The biggest takeaway I'm getting from the comments about retiring is the ability to do what I want, when I want! YES --- that is what I want! DH sometimes travels to exotic places, and I'm not able to go because of commitments. That didn't bother me in the past, but this year - well, it did! So I'm considering that when I plan my gradual slide into complete retirement. Because of what I do, I don't have to cut everything off at once. But I must keep working on that plan!

Elle gave me a quick little lower-body exercise routine in the comments. Feel free to grab it! These are simple exercises, but they are essential for keeping us limber and independent. Some of us have good genes, and some of us do not! It's up to us to keep things moving. I cannot imagine depending on someone to get me out of bed or dressed. Hopefully, that day will never come, but it might. The thought scares me!

This week’s challenge for Project Quilting (Season 15.5) is “wearables”. You can turn clothing into something else or “quilt-ify” something you wear or make a clothing-themed item.

Here are the normal rules, and you have one week from start to finish to meet the challenge.

• Every challenge piece must be a FINISHED project seen through from INCEPTION to COMPLETION during the challenge timeline.

How many of you checked out the challenges the other day? For one of them, the idea popped into my head when I read the title and saw the colors. I've done some research, and it's possible, but it will require a wee bit of finagling to make it happen the way I want. The best time to start is NOW.

OK -- so I've developed a routine, and it's pretty boring! But have you ever noticed how much of your life is routine? And routine is good -- it allows your brain to focus on other things; otherwise, we would be exhausted making decisions all day long! 

Things happened, although it was a "fairly" routine day. The first excitement of the day that resulted in my good deed was when I walked Murphy. I saw a vehicle back out of the driveway (I was practically beside the car, but it was NOT ever a danger to me). But they backed ...

Oh, help me, as I'm so darn goal-oriented, and I try not to be, and I confess that since I got home, I haven't looked at my daily KM. OK -- that's a lie. I have looked, but I haven't been obsessed with getting a certain distance each day, and I haven't looked at my 2022 cardio challenge since I got home. I have no idea where I am!

That title is a bit weird when you think about it. Is there such a thing as virtual walking? Not really. The challenges are VIRTUAL only in the area where we map our walks. For instance, would it be realistic for me to walk the Pacific Crest Trail? I could, but it would take months, and I don't have the time and probably not the inclination to actually walk that trail. But every step I take to complete those virtual walks is a real step, and I then get to map my steps onto the trail.

This retreat definitely has a different vibe than many I've been on. Perhaps it's the location? I'm not sure, but it's very relaxing. I headed out in the morning for my walk, and I decided to go for a long walk. A bit longer than usual, but I was still back in two hours. 

It was brisk in the morning, and I wore my vest the entire walk. The sun was out yet again, and I was comfortable. The environment was stunning. Since it was Saturday morning, there was very little traffic, the sky was blue ...

Day Two of the retreat has come and gone. OH MY --- what a great group of people. We have someone new on this retreat, and it's her first retreat with a small group. You always worry if the new person will fit into the mix, and I'm happy to report that ...

Where is the time going? It's the 9th of March, and I'm far behind where I would like to be at this time. OK -- not so far behind, but it feels like I'm way behind. And about the only thing I can work on right now are my presentations (two more French ones to finish up) and the homework for the sew alongs -- there are five different classes this weekend - the homework for NONE of them is finished. Although I am making progress. 

Note to self -- I will NOT be doing so many sew alongs next year ...

I caved! I had to watch the other two episodes of The Great Canadian Baking Show. I am a junky for that kind of thing, and since I cannot control myself very well, I try to refrain from getting hooked! Now when is Episode 5 playing? 

I cringe at the stress level they must experience for the duration of each challenge. I mean, some of the contestants are making stuff they've never heard of! The show was taped in the summer in a non-air-conditioned tent, so you can imagine the challenge of working with some of the ingredients!
